A second NY Standardbred (Rainin Fire) has been reported dead from last Tuesday. Image of Luck, being raced in the 2nd at Yonkers, suffered a lacerated cannon bone and was, according to the Gaming Commission, euthanized at the hospital.
Also, the Commission has recently added another victim from July: 3-year-old Leverage shattered a cannon while training at Finger Lakes July 13 – euthanized where he lay. Prior to dying, the pubescent horse had been put to the whip five times.
