“Went Wrong,” Dead at Golden Gate

From the Golden Gate Stewards Minutes:

April 7 – “Impossible Timing went wrong…euthanized on the track.” “Went wrong” and died – for $2 bets.

April 16 – “Fightin Mean Mad foundered at Alameda County Fairgrounds-Pleasanton and was euthanized at barn.” “Foundered,” dead – at six.

This is horseracing.

  1. Oh I see, this animal “went wrong” a living creature without a voice and likely screaming out “I’m sore, I’m carrying a pre-existing injury, I’m exhausted, I do my best and yet I’m punished with the whip and “I CAN’T GO ON LIVING LIKE THIS ANYMORE!” Go figure folks this is the reality of what these noble horses are inexcusably suffering!

The Governments must step in and do something about this unacceptable blatant animal cruelty!

    • It is my belief that one day the Governments will realize that they are third party to blatant animal cruelty. Recently, the New York State Gaming Commission took unprecedented action against six Standardbred trainers who administered potentially dangerous and performance-enhancing doses of cobalt to race horses in violation of Commission racing rules. The Commission will refer these matters to appropriate law enforcement for contemplation of animal cruelty charges.

      • Carolyn, I asked my equine vet why any horse would be given cobalt and she said that there is “no reason.” Mr. Glen Thompson, a racing owner/trainer, wrote a book called “The Tradition of Cheating in the Sport of Kings”. My husband bought me the eBook and I did read it. I think the title says it all. Cheating in racing has been going on for years and years, but I personally believe that it is getting worse. There is only one way to end the “tradition”. Let racing die in the dirt the way that so many of the horses do.
