2 More for the Horse Pit

The California Horse Racing Board has reported the death of 2-year-old Lovely Kitten October 28 at Golden Gate: “showed signs of ATAXIA over a two week period and had progressively gotten worse…after consultation with owner, trainer and DVM, it was decided to euthanize her.”

The NYS Gaming Commission has reported the death of 3-year-old Surreal Dream November 5 at Finger Lakes: “treated for septicemia of unknown origin without any improvement – euthanized.”

While the deaths of both of these pubescent horses will be filed under “non-racing,” make no mistake, Racing – the industry – is wholly and unequivocally responsible.
