“In Distress,” Dead at Finger Lakes

The chart note for 2-year-old Flat Out Licked Em in the 1st yesterday at Finger Lakes: “appeared in distress on the last turn, pulled up and then was vanned off.” Actually, says the Gaming Commission, dead.

Based on his precipitous drop in class – Flat Out began his ever-so-brief “career” at haughty Saratoga back in August – and less-than-stellar results – the colt finished toward the bottom in each of his four previous races – it’s a good bet this young, pitiful animal will hardly be missed.

This is horseracing.

  1. “APPEARED in distress”- you think !!
The colt was mortally wounded and soon to die. Hard to say, but the harsh reality is that he is better off dead especially since he would be considered “worthless” in this noble sport !!!
