  1. Thank you, Patrick, for the time and energy it must take to obtain this information, not to mention the heartbreak the loss of these beautiful souls. I’ve never been one to bet on horses, but over the years have enjoyed watching them on television. Each and every time they use the whip to make the horse run faster, I yell at the television for them to stop.. I no longer look forward to any of the races on television, and I do believe that there’s a special place in Hell for anyone involved in injuring/killing these lovely horses.

  2. Every week I read these I am still amazed at the sheer amount of horses that are on these lists.. and every week I see names of horses I used to see race in person .. like this week it’s Paige Got Even… it’s even more heart breaking to have personally seen them. And every week I show these lists to friends who are shocked and appalled also. It’s the things like these lists that are opening the eyes of the public to the extensive damage just one week of racing wreaks on these helpless animals

  3. Thanks to Patrick for his hard work, and dedication in obtaining these records for this blog.
So sorry for all racehorses who are on this list.
They are the victims of this vile business that must end.
Whether high earnings or “royally-bred” they are not immune to the brutal ends that many meet whether that’s being dumped into the claiming ranks and/or maimed for life.
BROWNEYED BACHELOR, a 9 y.o gelding who made over $275,000 in his prime, and was dumped (when he could no longer bring the big pay checks) into the claiming ranks now either dead or probably maimed for life.
MADROOS, royally-bred, started out on a multimillion dollar farm in Kentucky, sold for $360,000 to the Shiek. Only Madroos didn’t live up to his “royal” breeding so was dumped into the claiming ranks – fate unknown.
It’s important to note that the owner of Gulfstream Park is Frank Stronach (AKA Magna Entertainment) whose group insisted on getting summer race days here.
Temperatures in Miami, FL are dangerously hot to the point where animal advocate groups are claiming that dogs left outside are vulnerable to heat stroke, and that’s WITHOUT any exertion.
Yet, the guy who supposedly “cares,” and “loves” horses doesn’t seem to bother him when they are running in temperatures often exceeding 100+ F with unbearable humidity.
It certainly doesn’t bother the racehorse connections who makes the decision to run them.
People in Miami, FL are getting fines for leaving domestic pets outside in certain conditions, but the horses?
Well, they are slave profits, there to fill races, increase wagering profits, and flip a buck.

Folks, there are dead and/or broken racehorses all over our country as a direct result of this VILE business.
    Please stop supporting it.

  4. This is shameful that these young horses are even being used. They still refuse to believe the torture of this industry. Money hungry people with no respect for the well-being of the horse. What part of their bones are NOT FULLY DEVELOPED DON’T YOU GET. ! AND STRESSED BEYOND COMPREHENSION !

  5. PAPA VINNY: low level claimer, just another name on the list to most, but from racing fan Greg Jones, who loves this horse, saw the breakdown, a strong supporter (now ex-supporter) of horse racing this cross-posted from his Twitter feed:

“Papa Vinny just died at Laurel.
    Rest in peace little guy.
    A Nicanor baby.
    Fucking heartbreaking to watch.
    DONE.”

This is the reality of horse racing, and I will never understand how anybody can continue to support/participate/invest in a business that kills horses.

  6. The racing people believe it is their “right” to use the horse to make money and feed their egos. But along with “rights” there ls something called responsibility and, of course, accountability. Without the latter it is a very lopsided equation.
We see this all the time in this business..
The voiceless horse pays a heavy price.

    • Yes indeed the racehorse pays with their life whether that’s dying in the dirt or coming off the track lame.
Most have a reduced quality of life if they make it into a good home while many don’t make it there because their next stop is the slaughterhouse.
Our governments should not support this at all.
They should make them pay for their business, and make them pay to take care of these horses when they are done racing.
They should also make them pay for all their pollution, and environmental destruction.
This business is bad from start to finish, and everything in between.
      It needs to shut down.
