3-Year-Old Dead at Penn

The Equibase note for 3-year-old Offlee Charmer in the 2nd at Penn National yesterday: “OFFLEE CHARMER…suddenly fell at the quarter pole and had to be euthanized.” Offlee was being raced for a share of $10,800; she was “For Sale” at $5,000 prior to the start. Money, exploitation, frequent killing – this is horseracing.

  1. In addition to the horses getting killed, the jockeys get injured and killed. I read about two young ladie in Australia who died within a couple days of each other on the racetrack. Then there was Juan Saez getting killed at INdiana Grande He was only seventeen years old. I hope the media will do some coverage of this kind of thing too Horse racing does nothing to make the world a better place.

  2. This is so sad every day these animal suffer and die at the hands of money mongers , Why don’t they just shoot them in the starting gate ? Looks like every one just looks the other way while these horse did on the track , just dropping dead on the track .

  3. Horse racing has no redeemable factors to our society.
    Stop this carnage now.
So sorry for all racehorses who have died since my last post.
Please educate people on the truths behind the fancy hats, “entertainment/sport” banner, and luscious green paddock when finished – these are NOT the facts, these are things that deliberately deceive the public.
    We know otherwise.
